Jasmine is an actress, poet, & creator from South Central Los Angeles. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University, where she received her B.A. in Dramatic Arts & Playwriting. She has been featured on HBO, TV One, & All Def Digital, just to name a few. She is currently one of the hosts of "Da Poetry Lounge", one of the largest spoken word and open mic venues in the country. Jasmine creates art to inspire and amplify the voices of those brave enough to be heard.

Artist Statement

My body of work primarily focuses on women, love, and triumph. As a poet, I often use stylized language to captivate and enhance my performance/storytelling within theatre, television, and film. I break chronological order, combine eras, and dare in language. As a Black woman, I use my voice within the creative sphere to rise above the chafe of mainstream media and stereotypes , and strive to shed light on stories that deserve to be told. One of my favorite quotes is, “I am my best work - a series of road maps, reports, recipes, doodles, and prayers from the front lines.” -Audre Lorde. I can only trace back my steps from where I have come from, to recognize and pay homage to where I am going. As a woman who has been on the frontlines, now is the time to assemble.
